【物語】
「懐かしいな･･･」
僕は、結婚式の司会者の方から渡されたアンケート用紙の
その箇所を見入っていた･･･
“二人の出会いのエピソード”
もう５年か･･･
あっと言う間だったような気がする。
･･･時間の経過を感じなかったし、きみと過ごした年月は
僕の心を満たしてくれた。
そう･･･あの夏の日から･･･
その日は、眩しいくらいの太陽が、燦燦とコンクリートを
照りつけていた。
僕は、プールサイドで初めてきみと言葉を交わした。
プールの水面に反射した太陽の光が映りこんだきみの瞳は
キラキラと輝いていた。
「よろしくお願いします。」
「よろしく！」
何十本ものスライダーは互いに絡み合い、まるで多数の大蛇が
とぐろを巻く姿を彷彿とさせるほど奇抜な風貌をしていた。
最大級のスライダーを売りにするそのプールで、監視スタッフという夏
だけのバイト。
僕は２年目の先輩という立場で、新人のきみを研修で指導していた。
何十人という新人バイト生の中で、きみは僕の担当に･･･。
ユニフォームだったＴシャツと短パン姿のきみは、とっても健康的で
露出した肌は少し日焼けで赤みを帯び、水をはじくようなつやと張り
を感じさせた。
「仕事は大変ですか？」
「暑さだけかな･･･仕事は楽しいよ。仲間もたくさん出来るし！」
「よかったぁ。安心しました。」
人なつっこく、それでいて礼儀正しいきみに僕は好感を覚えた。
きみに丁寧に指導したくなったし、やさしくしたくなった。
「人が溺れそうになっていたら･･･。」
「･･･はい。」
「それから、流れるプールに飛び込もうとしているお客さんがいたら･･･」
「･･･はい。」
「いい？大丈夫？」
「分かりました！」
「よし！じゃあ次はね･･･」
素直に聞きいっているきみをふと見ると、
汗とプールの水しぶきでＴシャツが肌に密着し、
少し透けた紺色の競泳水着が目に入った。
監視スタッフというバイトでは、水に濡れてしまうことは
日常のことで、Ｔシャツが透けることそのものになんの興味
も示さなかったが･･･
きみと一緒にいたその日その時間だけは、何か特別な意味を
もっていたように思う･･･
少なくとも僕という男にとっては。
きみに女性を感じていた･･･
女性の魅力を感じていた･･･
そして、きみを意識した･･･
でもそれ以上に、きみが僕を一目で好きになってくれて
いたと後で知ったときは、とってもうれしかった。
僕が一人の男として見られたこと。
そして･･･
きみがその男を好きになったこと。
あの夏にきみがくれた恋のおかげで･･･
僕もきみに恋をして･･･夢中になった。
いつのまにか、僕はきみを追い越して
きみが恋する以上に僕はきみを愛した。
二人が出会った夏の物語は、
二人の心の中でずっと残っていくにちがいない。
時が経った今でも･･･そして、これからも･･･。
